Here is another photo of the packaging for the new Fika, Scandinavian deli shop in Isetan department store in Tokyo. The print on the left is by Hanna Konola and on the right by Leena Kisonen. They also offer our Kauniste products in the shop!
Lucky us! Kauniste has been included in this wonderful new book Northern Delights Scandinavian Homes, Interiors and Design !
Stylist Minna Jones has been renovating her family’s cottage in the Finnish Archipelago. For the guest room she made curtains from kauniste metsä fabric. You can read all about Minna’s many projects in the blog Time of the aquarius.
We were taking advantage of the bright spring light and taking some new photos yesterday. Thanks to the lovely crew who made it a real fun day!
Our Metsä cushion made it to the cover of Finnish Avotakka interior magazine. Nice color scheme!
It was amazing to see our Maatila towel has been included in the permanent exhibition of Finnish design in the Helsinki Design Museum. When we first started printing our products, we were hoping one day Kauniste items would become something people would cherish and value. Maybe even collect some day… Feels like we’re on the right tracks.
Thanks to our wonderful retailer Kapibara in Poland, our Sokeri tray was featured in the local Moje Mieszkanie magazine. Thanks Agata for sending!
We got our catalogs fresh off the print and our luggage is all set for travelling to Home exhibition in London. See you there!
A few years back when we first started printing textiles, we were so happy about this keittiössä pattern by Leena Kisonen. Leena cut all the pieces from paper and used whimsical handwriting to illustrate the pantry. Seeing her old paper cuts still make me smile.

Snow just keeps on coming here in Helsinki!
Visit us now at Uudenmaankatu 27 or Unioninkatu 27! We made some sauna linens and also the new blankets are available in both stores.
Our Tihku cotton fabric was used as a wall paper in the latest Kotivinkki magazine. Tihku means “small rain”, and we use this print as a lining for the Saaret products.
We made a test round of 100% wool plaids in pink & sky blue colors. We still have a few in shop in case you want to get yours before the winter arrives.
Introducing our new print by Matti Pikkujämsä! This print is called Sunnuntai, which means Sunday in Finnish. This pattern with bird’s nests, birds and flowers has that leisurely, Sunday feeling.
New in store!
The new pattern is called Saaret, which means islands in English. The pattern was illustrated by Hanna Konola: ”When I was drawing, the shapes reminded me of a beautiful rocky peninsula. The rocks were round and smooth like the back of a whale. Evening light gave the sea and islands pink and violet colors.”
We have made some bags with leather handles, pouches and pen cases with the heavy canvas fabric. More news is on the way soon!
